Crypto copy trading on Flipster: how it works, what it costs and what can go wrong

Crypto copy trading on Flipster automatically replicates a Master Trader’s perpetual futures trades in your own account on a pro rata basis: your assets are not pooled and the Master Trader never holds them, Flipster can charge a profit share and other fees, results can differ from the trader you copy, and losses can exceed the amount you allocated.

Risk warning Not financial advice. Crypto is highly volatile and may drop in value significantly. You may lose the amounts you invest and your investments do not benefit from any form of financial protection.

Flipster’s Copy Trading Specific Terms say: “copy trading involves substantial risk and is highly speculative. The use of the Copy Trading Service may result in significant financial losses, including losses exceeding the funds initially allocated to copying a Master Trader.” flipster.io/policies/copy-trading-specific-terms, clause 3.1, last updated 26 February 2026.

How copy trading works on Flipster

source flipster.io/policies/copy-trading-specific-termslast updated 2026-02-26

Flipster’s terms describe copy trading as “a user-directed automated execution tool”. You direct it once, by choosing a Master Trader and the funds to allocate. From then on it acts without asking you, and Flipster exercises no discretion over what is traded. One copied trade passes through four steps.

  1. The Master Trader trades. A Master Trader opens or closes a position in their own account.

  2. The trade is replicated pro rata. The tool places the matching order for you, scaled to your account, without your approval of that trade.

  3. The position sits in your account. It is opened in your own account and backed by your own margin. Your assets are not pooled with anyone else’s.

  4. Charges are applied. Flipster may charge a profit share and other fees at the Fee Rate that applies to the Master Trader.

Choosing a Master Trader

The choice of Master Trader is yours alone. Flipster’s home page says each Master Trader’s performance is shown as P&L, ROI, win rate and trade history. The terms add that such metrics may be delayed or inaccurate.

Flipster gives no investment advice and makes no assessment of whether a Master Trader suits you. Before you compare records, check the definitions of margin, ROI and drawdown, and look at how a record was produced as well as where it ended.

What is copied, and when

While you are copying, each trade the Master Trader opens or closes is replicated in your account on a pro rata basis, with no prior approval from you. Pro rata means in proportion: the copy is scaled to your account, not repeated at the Master Trader’s size.

Copy trading futures means holding leveraged positions. Read about the perpetual futures that copied trades use before you start.

The terms set two limits. Copy orders are not placed when your account has no funds. If a product is restricted for you, the trade may be replaced with a similar one, with no assurance that its risk and performance match.

Stopping or changing a copy

You can stop copying a Master Trader at any time under the terms. Stopping ends the replication of new trades. It does not reverse a loss that has already been made.

How copied positions that are still open are handled when you stop, and how the amount allocated is changed, is not described on any server-rendered page. Check both in the app before you start, and read the summary of the terms that apply.

Who controls your money

Copy Trading Specific Terms, clauses 2.2 and 2.3read 2026-10-11

You

Your assets stay in your own Flipster account. You decide whom to copy and how much to allocate, and you can stop at any time.

You also carry every loss, including a loss larger than the amount you allocated.

Master Trader

The Master Trader decides which trades are made and when, in their own account.

No Master Trader has custody of, or control over, your account. Your assets are not pooled with theirs or with those of other users.

Flipster

Flipster Corp provides your account and the tool that replicates the trades in it. It exercises no discretion over those trades, and it may charge fees.

Custody is covered on the page about how client assets are held.

Separate accounts are a fact about custody, not about risk. The terms are just as clear on what copy trading is not: it is not portfolio management, Flipster owes you no fiduciary duty, and nobody assesses whether a Master Trader’s strategy suits you.

The decision to copy, the amount and the timing are yours. That is what “user-directed” means, and it is why the outcome is yours as well.

A user-directed automated execution tool.

Costs: profit sharing and trading fees

sources flipster.io/policies/copy-trading-specific-terms and flipster.io/support/guide/feesread 2026-10-11

Copy trading has two layers of cost. The first belongs to the service. The terms allow Flipster to charge profit sharing, service fees, fee commissions or other fees at the Fee Rate applicable to the Master Trader you copy. Fee Rates can change at any time, and displayed rates are indicative.

The profit-share percentage and the settlement cycle are not printed here, because no server-rendered Flipster page states them. Read the Fee Rate shown for a Master Trader before you copy, and treat it as a figure that can move.

The second layer is the cost of the trades themselves. A copied position is a position in your own account, so the trading fees charged on copied positions follow the fee schedule: 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at the entry tier, VIP0. A position held through a funding timestamp also exchanges funding. The guide explains funding costs on open positions.

A profit share comes on top of trading fees and funding. It does not replace them.

The live copy trading page says, in its meta description, that strategies are copied “with risk controls”. Its body has no server-rendered text, so the controls are not documented where a reader can check them before signing up.

What the terms establish is narrower. You choose the Master Trader, you choose the funds to allocate, and you can stop at any time.

The allocation is not a cap on losses: the terms say losses can exceed it. Three further settings appear only in the application’s interface text. They are listed as open items and not described, because their rules could not be read.

Why your result can differ from the trader you copy

Copy Trading Specific Terms, clauses 2.6 to 2.8 and 3.3read 2026-10-11

The causes are named in the terms. The explanations beside them are ours.

Minimum trade size

Every contract has a smallest order. If your proportional share of a trade falls below it, the copy cannot match the Master Trader’s trade exactly.

Named inClause 2.6

Account balance

The copy is sized to your account. Copy orders are not placed when your account has no funds, so a trade in the Master Trader’s record can be missing from yours.

Named inClauses 2.6 to 2.8

Leverage differences

With different leverage, the same price move changes your margin by a different proportion, and your position reaches its liquidation price at a different point.

Named inClauses 2.6 and 3.3

Spreads, slippage and timing

Your order is a separate order and can fill at a different price from the Master Trader’s. When you started copying also decides which trades you took part in.

Named inClauses 2.6 and 3.3

Fees

Trading fees and any profit share are charged to your account and reduce your result. So does funding on positions that stay open.

Named inClause 3.3

Restricted products

A product that is restricted for you may be replaced with a similar trade, with no assurance that risk and performance match.

Named inClause 2.8

An example in words

A Master Trader opens a position with a small part of a large balance. Your proportional share is below the contract’s minimum, so your copy cannot mirror it. A week later you start copying a second trader after a strong month. That month is in their record. It is not in your account.

Risks of copy trading

Copy Trading Specific Terms, clauses 3.1, 3.3 and 3.6last updated 2026-02-26

Flipster’s terms say that “copy trading involves substantial risk and is highly speculative”. How a copy turns out depends on the trader, the market and the costs, and many copied positions are leveraged futures. Read the risk disclosure for copy trading before you allocate funds.

Losses beyond the amount allocated

The amount you allocate is not a ceiling on what you can lose. The terms warn of “significant financial losses, including losses exceeding the funds initially allocated to copying a Master Trader”.

Flipster’s Derivatives Trading Terms call derivatives “leveraged products which are complex and may not be suitable for inexperienced investors”. The guide shows how copied positions can be liquidated.

Past performance

A Master Trader’s record is history. The terms say historical results and metrics “do not guarantee future outcomes”, and that rankings and metrics may be delayed or inaccurate.

A record also leaves out the costs, the timing and the size limits that will apply to your own copy.

Automated execution without your approval

Trades are opened and closed in your account without your approval of each one, including while you are not watching. Flipster exercises no discretion, so nobody steps in when a trade looks unwise.

Copying is not investment advice. Nobody has checked that the strategy fits your circumstances.

Copy trading compared with trading yourself

general features of each approach

Copying replaces your trading decisions with someone else’s. It does not replace the risk, and it adds a layer of cost. The table sets the two approaches side by side, weak points included.

If you trade yourself, you pick the market, the size and the exit, from crypto contracts to TradFi perpetual markets. To learn the mechanics before you choose, start with the trading guides in Flipster Learn.

Copy trading and trading yourself compared. The copy trading column follows the Flipster terms read on 2026-10-11; the rest are general features.

Copy trading FAQ

answers checked

What do a Master Trader’s past results tell me?

They tell you what happened, not what will happen. Flipster shows a Master Trader’s P&L, ROI, win rate and trade history, and its terms say historical results and metrics “do not guarantee future outcomes” and may be delayed or inaccurate. The record also leaves out your own costs, your starting date and the size limits that apply to your copy.

Is crypto copy trading safe?

No form of copy trading removes the risk of loss. On Flipster your assets stay in your own account and no Master Trader has custody or control of it. That is a fact about custody. It does not limit trading losses: the terms say copy trading “is highly speculative” and that losses can exceed the funds you allocated.

Does the Master Trader hold my funds?

No. Under the Copy Trading Specific Terms your assets are not pooled with the Master Trader or with other users, and no Master Trader has custody of, or control over, your account. The Master Trader trades their own account and Flipster’s tool replicates those trades in yours. What the Master Trader does decide is which trades your account follows.

What does copy trading cost on Flipster?

There are two layers of cost. Flipster may charge profit sharing, service fees or fee commissions at the Fee Rate applicable to the Master Trader; those rates can change at any time and displayed rates are indicative. Each copied position also carries trading fees, 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at the entry tier, and funding while it stays open.

Can I stop copying at any time?

Yes. The Copy Trading Specific Terms let you stop copying a Master Trader at any time. Stopping does not reverse losses already made. This page cannot confirm how positions that are still open are handled when you stop, because no server-rendered source describes it. Check that in the app before you allocate funds.

Is copy trading the same as investment advice?

No. The terms state that copying a Master Trader is not investment advice. The service is a user-directed automated execution tool: Flipster exercises no discretion, owes no fiduciary duty and makes no assessment of whether a strategy suits you, and it is not portfolio management. The decision to copy, the amount and the timing are yours.
