TradFi perpetuals on Flipster: gold, US stocks and ETFs settled in USDT
TradFi perpetuals are USDT-settled perpetual futures that track traditional assets such as gold, oil, US stocks and ETFs; on Flipster the gold contract (XAUUSDT) exchanges funding every 4 hours with a 0.50% cap, entry-tier fees are 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, and you get leveraged price exposure only, never the share, dividend or metal itself.
Risk warning Not financial advice. Crypto is highly volatile and may drop in value significantly. You may lose the amounts you invest and your investments do not benefit from any form of financial protection.
Flipster’s Derivatives Trading Terms say: “you can lose up to your entire deposit in a very short period of time. The amount you may lose is potentially unlimited and can exceed the amount which you originally deposit with us.” flipster.io/policies/derivatives, last updated 13 February 2026.
Price exposure, not ownership. A TradFi perpetual pays or costs you the price move of an asset, in USDT. It never gives you the share, the ETF unit, a dividend, a vote or the metal.

A TradFi perpetual is a perpetual futures contract whose price follows a traditional asset, such as gold, crude oil, a US stock or an ETF, in place of a cryptocurrency. It is a derivative: you hold a position on an index price, and you own no share, no fund unit and no metal.
The design is the one used for crypto contracts. There is no expiry date, the contract is quoted and settled in USDT, you post margin to open a long or short position, and funding is exchanged between the two sides at fixed times. A separate page explains how crypto perpetual futures work on Flipster.
Price exposure, not ownership
Your result is the change in the contract price multiplied by your position size, less fees, plus or minus funding. Nothing else comes with it.
Result in USDT = price change x position size - fees +/- funding
A long position in a stock perpetual does not make you a shareholder: no dividend is paid to you, you have no vote, and you have no claim on the company. A long position in XAUUSDT gives you no claim on a bar, a coin or a vault.
Leverage cuts both ways. A small move against you is a large loss on your margin, and the position can be liquidated before the price comes back.
How it differs from buying a share or an ETF
Three ways to follow the same asset, with the main drawback of each in the last row. The share and gold columns describe a purchase through a broker or a bullion product in general. They are not Flipster services.
| Feature | TradFi perpetual | Share or ETF | Spot gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you hold | A derivative position on an index price | The share or the fund unit | Metal, or units of a fund that holds it |
| Dividends and votes | None | Yes, where the company or fund provides them | None; gold pays no income |
| Leverage | Built in; the maximum is set per contract and region | None, unless you borrow | None, unless the product adds it |
| Ongoing cost | Funding at each funding time, paid or received | Broker and fund charges | Storage or fund charges |
| Trading hours | The service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week | Stock exchange sessions | Depends on the product |
| Main drawback | Liquidation can close the position, and losses can exceed your deposit | You pay the full price up front and trade only in market hours | No income, and charges reduce the holding over time |
A comparison of product types for explanation. It does not recommend any of them.
Markets named in the company’s guide at flipster.io/blog/a-complete-guide-to-tradfi-perpetuals-on-flipster. The company describes the range as “100+ TradFi perpetual pairs” and says they trade beside “cryptocurrencies, stocks, ETFs, and commodities from a single account”. ROW provided by Flipster Corp where permitted.
Commodities
Gold perpetual futures, silver, and oil perpetual futures on WTI crude. Each contract follows a commodity price in USDT, and none of them delivers metal or barrels. Gold is the contract this page documents in full.
US stocks
Single stock perpetual futures: one contract follows the share price of one listed company. This is what “trade stocks with crypto” means in practice. You take the price move, long or short, with USDT as margin, and you never become a shareholder.
ETFs and leveraged ETFs
Contracts on exchange-traded funds. Both funds named in the guide are leveraged ETFs, which reset every day and drift from the index or stock they follow over longer periods.
Pre-IPO markets
Pre-IPO perpetual futures reference companies whose shares are not yet listed on a stock exchange. No public market price exists for them, so the index must rest on another reference. Which one Flipster uses is not in the sources read for this page.
XAUUSDT is the gold perpetual futures contract on Flipster, and the way to trade gold with USDT on the platform. One contract is worth 1 XAU, and it is quoted and settled in USDT. The smallest price step is 0.01 USDT, the smallest size is 0.00001 XAU, and an order can be as small as 1 USDT of notional value.
Terms differ by contract. Gold exchanges funding every 4 hours, twice as often as BTCUSDT, and its funding cap is higher. Its order and open-interest limits are lower, and its maximum slippage is wider.
The limits are platform-wide maximums. The contract page adds: “Your actual order and position limits may vary based on your assigned trading tier.” The glossary has definitions of mark price, funding cap and auto-deleveraging.

A TradFi perpetual does not keep the hours of the market it tracks. Flipster’s Derivatives Trading Terms describe a service that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and say that margin calls and liquidations can occur at any time. A stock exchange trades in sessions and closes at weekends and on public holidays.
That mismatch is the source of gap risk. News that arrives while the underlying market is closed is priced in when it reopens, often in a single step. A contract that keeps trading through the closure has less to anchor it, and a stop or a liquidation price can be passed without a trade at that level.
For gold, the contract page lists one index constituent, Binance XAUUSDT, against eight exchanges for BTCUSDT, so the gold index follows a single venue. For stock and ETF contracts, the sources read for this page do not say how the index price is formed while the stock market is closed. Read the index section of a contract’s rules page before you hold a position over a weekend or an earnings date.
| Item | What the sources show | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Service hours | 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Margin calls and liquidations can occur at any time (Derivatives Trading Terms, clause 4.2). | terms opened |
| Gold index constituent | Binance XAUUSDT (XAUUSDT.PERP contract page). | contract page opened |
| Stock and ETF index constituents | Not in the sources read for this page. | to be confirmed |
| Index price while the stock market is closed | Not in the sources read for this page. | to be confirmed |

TradFi perpetuals use the fee schedule published for all perpetual swaps: a maker fee and a taker fee, each a percentage of the trade’s notional value, set by your VIP tier. At the entry tier, VIP0, that is 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker. The fee guide gives one schedule and names no separate TradFi rate. All twelve tiers are listed under maker and taker fees by VIP tier.
Funding is a separate item, and it is not paid to the exchange. Flipster’s guide says traders “exchange funding fees with each other with no additional costs levied by the platform”. If the rate is positive, longs pay shorts; if it is negative, shorts pay longs. Only positions open at the funding timestamp take part.
Intervals vary by contract: 4 hours for XAUUSDT, 8 hours for BTCUSDT. The guide explains how funding rates are set and paid.
| Tier | Maker | Taker | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| VIP0 (entry tier) | 0.02% | 0.06% | None |
| VIP4 | 0.018% | 0.048% | 10M USDT 30-day volume or 100,000 USDT average balance |
| VIP11 | 0.01% | 0.025% | 1,000M USDT 30-day volume |
Maker fee: futures only. Taker fee: spot and futures. Trading Fee = Filled Quantity * Executed Price * Taker / Maker Fee (flipster.io/support/guide/fees). The fee page shows no “last updated” date; the rates were read on 2026-10-11.
Worked example: 1,000 USDT of XAUUSDT held for one day
- Position notional
- 1,000 USDT
- Open, taker fee at VIP0 (0.06%)
- 0.60 USDT
- Close, taker fee at VIP0 (0.06%)
- 0.60 USDT
- Funding per timestamp at an assumed 0.01%
- 0.10 USDT
- Funding timestamps in 24 hours
- 6
- Funding for the day, paying side
- 0.60 USDT
- Cost for the day
- 1.80 USDT
Illustration with round numbers, not a quote. The 0.01% funding rate is assumed: the real rate changes at every funding time, can be negative, and is capped at 0.5000% on XAUUSDT. Fee rates are the VIP0 rates read on 2026-10-11. The price is assumed unchanged between open and close.
What the example shows: the two trading fees depend only on the size of the order, while funding depends on how long you hold and on which side pays. On the receiving side the same 0.60 USDT would be a credit, and the day would cost 0.60 USDT net.
What it leaves out: the spread, slippage on a market order (the contract’s maximum slippage is 3.00%), and the liquidation fee if the system closes the position. At the funding cap of 0.5000%, a single funding payment on 1,000 USDT would be 5.00 USDT.
Margin works as it does on every Flipster perpetual. You choose isolated margin, where collateral is set aside for one position, or cross margin, where positions share collateral and a liquidation may affect all of them. Initial margin opens the position; maintenance margin is the minimum that keeps it open.
This page prints no leverage multiplier. The maximum is set per contract and can differ by region, and it is shown in the margin table of each contract. Higher leverage moves the liquidation price closer to your entry price.
One regulatory limit is public. In Dubai, where Flipster FZE holds VASP Licence VL/26/07/002, the VARA Exchange Services Rulebook, Part V, section G says: “VASPs shall not permit Retail Investors to use or access ETD Services with greater than 5-to-1 leverage, as the minimum requirement for ETD Initial Margin is twenty percent (20%).” That is the regulator’s rule, stated here as a fact. It does not mean that TradFi perpetuals are offered under that licence.
When the mark price reaches your liquidation price, the position is closed automatically. The guide gives the liquidation price formula and examples.
| Margin modes | Isolated or cross |
|---|---|
| Isolated margin | Allocated per position |
| Cross margin | Shared; a liquidation may affect all cross positions |
| Initial margin | Collateral placed to open a leveraged position |
| Maintenance margin | Minimum collateral to keep a position open |
| Positions and pending orders | Up to 50 per symbol |
| Liquidation trigger | Mark price hits the liquidation price |
| Notice before liquidation | None; the position is closed automatically |
| Liquidation fee | Half of the maintenance margin of the liquidated position |
| Margin left after the fee | Goes to the Insurance Fund |
| If the Insurance Fund cannot absorb the position | Counterparty liquidation can close a profitable position |
| Auto-deleveraging on XAUUSDT | Enabled |
| Maximum leverage | Set per contract and region; not printed here |
TradFi perpetuals are provided by Flipster Corp to eligible users, and eligibility depends on where you live. The live site puts it this way: “Eligibility varies by jurisdiction. Check your country status before registering.”
One point is specific to this product. A perpetual on a stock or an ETF may be treated as a securities-related derivative in some countries, under rules that differ from those for crypto contracts. Flipster’s Terms of Use make the user responsible for complying with local regulations, so check the rules where you live before you trade.
What the Dubai licence does and does not cover is set out under Flipster FZE licence scope.

Gaps when the underlying market is closed
A stock or an ETF can reopen far from its last close. A perpetual that trades through the closure can move on thin information, and your stop or liquidation price can be passed in one step. Liquidation is automatic and comes without prior notice.
Leveraged ETFs as an underlying
TQQQ and MVLL are leveraged ETFs: funds that aim at a multiple of the daily move of an index or a stock and reset each day. Over longer periods their return drifts from that multiple, and in choppy markets it decays. A margined perpetual on such a fund is a leveraged product on a leveraged product.
Corporate actions
A dividend or a split changes a share price mechanically, and a merger can move it overnight. The holder of a perpetual receives no dividend. How Flipster adjusts a contract or its index for a corporate action is not in the documents read for this page.
These risks sit on top of the general one. As with every perpetual, your loss is not limited to the margin you post: the Derivatives Trading Terms say the amount you may lose “is potentially unlimited and can exceed the amount which you originally deposit with us”.
Read the risk disclosure for TradFi perpetuals before you open a position.
Derivatives are leveraged products which are complex and may not be suitable for inexperienced investors.
Can you trade stocks with crypto?
Yes, in the sense of price exposure. A stock perpetual lets you post USDT as margin and take a long or short position on a US stock such as NVIDIA or Tesla, with gains and losses settled in USDT. You are not buying the stock: no share is held for you, and the contract is open only to eligible users where Flipster Corp permits it.
Can you trade gold with USDT?
Yes. XAUUSDT is a perpetual contract quoted and settled in USDT. One contract is worth 1 XAU, and the smallest order is 1 USDT of notional value. It tracks an index with one constituent, Binance XAUUSDT. You hold a derivative position, not metal: nothing is delivered, and you have no claim on a bar or a vault.
Do I own the share or receive dividends?
No. A TradFi perpetual is a contract on a price, so you own no share or ETF unit and have no dividend, voting or other shareholder right. How Flipster treats a dividend, a split or another corporate action in the contract price is not described in the documents read for this page, so check the contract rules before you hold a position over such a date.
What are pre-IPO perpetual futures?
Pre-IPO perpetual futures are contracts that track a value for a company whose shares are not yet listed on a stock exchange. Flipster’s guide mentions selected pre-IPO markets and names none. Because no public market price exists, the index has to come from another reference, and the documents read for this page do not say which. Expect wide moves.
When is funding paid on gold perpetuals?
Every 4 hours. On XAUUSDT, funding is exchanged at 00:00, 04:00, 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00 UTC, six times a day, with a cap of 0.5000% per interval. If the rate is positive, long positions pay short positions; if it is negative, shorts pay longs. Only positions open at the funding timestamp pay or receive it.
What fees apply to TradFi perpetuals?
The published maker and taker fees for perpetual swaps: 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at the entry tier, VIP0, down to 0.01% and 0.025% at VIP11. The fee is charged on the filled quantity times the executed price. Funding is separate and passes between traders. A liquidation fee of half the maintenance margin applies if a position is liquidated.
